| What is SiteWing? |
|
SiteWing is an all-in-one website development application. With
SiteWing, you can design, build, maintain, and update your website.
SiteWing generates all the web pages which make up your site, integrating all of
the features of a professional looking website.
Designing a website using SiteWing is very intuitive. Layout, style,
and content are kept separate, allowing you to design an overall look and feel
first, and then add and manage content later. With SiteWing, you
will be able to add professional and sophisticated features to your website
which would otherwise be out of the reach for a small business or
organization. |
| Who is SiteWing for? |
|
The surprising versatility of SiteWing can be useful for individuals or
groups, organizations, or businesses of nearly any size. Anyone who would
like to have a professional looking, and up-to-date web presence can benefit
from SiteWing. SiteWing can put the powerful features only found in
large corporate websites into the hands of individuals, without the need for an
IT department! |
| What do I need in order to run SiteWing? |
|
SiteWing is currently available for Windows XP or 2000. Disk space,
memory and video requirements are minimal, and nearly any PC capable of running
Windows XP or 2000 can run SiteWing. A connection to the internet is
needed to upload your website, but design and development can be done
offline.
A web hosting service will be needed in order to host your website
online. SiteWing is very configurable and can accommodate many different
web servers. Basic web server features should include: CGI/Perl
scripting; Pop3 email hosting, with the ability to create 1 email account
specifically for SiteWing;

| Aren’t Content Management Systems Big and Expensive? |
|
Yes, most are. Typical content management systems (CMS) are known as
server-side systems. In order to set up a system like this: 1)
You will need a dedicated web server with full administrative rights so you can
install the CMS software. 2) You will need the technical know-how to
install, configure and administer the CMS and web server (or you must hire
someone who does). 3) All design, development, and administration must be
done online, requiring a high-speed internet connection. 4) The cost of a
traditional CMS can be huge, ranging into the 10’s of thousands of dollars, plus
the costs of the dedicated web server, and the salaries of the team of experts
you’ll need to run this system.
SiteWing is not typical, and is breaking all the rules! SiteWing could
be described as a client-side content management system. The
design, development, and administration of your website is done on your own PC,
without connecting to your web server. When you upload, the web server
requirements for SiteWing are so minimal, that even basic web server packages
will work with SiteWing websites. |
| Are different browsers supported? |
|
Yes! Modern browsers,
such as FireFox, Netscape, Opera, and Internet Explorer will all work well with
websites created with SiteWing.
Older browsers, such as
Netscape and Internet Explorer 4.x and earlier, lack features and can’t handle
most websites these days. Rather than allow these old browsers to poorly
display your website, the user will be given a message stating the minimum
browser requirements, and instructions on how to
upgrade.

| Can I work on my website via SiteWing™ when I'm offline? |
|
Absolutely! The beauty of SiteWing™ is that it allows you to work on your web
content and design, online or offline. The only time you'll need to be online is
when you're ready to publish and upload your web changes. Unlike most other
web software or web building tools in the market, which require you to work on
their web servers when maintaining your site, SiteWing provides you with the
utmost convenience and flexibility to work on your website whenever and wherever
you are. |
| Can I try out SiteWing for FREE? |
| Yes! You can download SiteWing now
and begin trying out its many features right away. The trial version has
all the features of the Standard Edition available for you to use for 14
days. In order to use SiteWing after the free trial has expired, or
if you would like to use the advanced features of the Business or PRO editions,
you must purchase SiteWing. |
| How fast can I get a new website up and running? |
SiteWing is so easy to use, you can
create a fully operation website in a matter of hours. The slowest
part of the process is waiting for a new domain name to take effect. If
you are registering a new domain (www.yoursite.com) they say it will take
up to 48 hours, although this is usually much less. In general, if you
register your domain name before starting your design with SiteWing, your web
server and domain should be ready by the time you are ready to upload!
|
| How quickly can I make changes to my website via SiteWing? |
| With SiteWing, you are in full control of
your website – changes can be uploaded in a matter of minutes, and at no extra
cost! Compare this to hiring a web developer to manage your website, where
it can take days to get a simple change done, and of course they will charge you
for it. |
| Does SiteWing aid me in making my website Search Engine-friendly? |
| SiteWing generates web page files which
have built-in search engine data. So when your website is found by popular
search engines, it will get a good ranking. In addition, SiteWing
can help you register your website with some popular search engines. This
cannot be done automatically, but SiteWing will walk you through the process,
and make it easy. |
